No, a referral from your doctor is not necessary to see a physiotherapist. However, if you will be claiming physiotherapy expenses through an insurance company, check your policy information or contact the company to see if a referral is needed for your benefits plan.
Yes! You may attend the physiotherapy clinic of your choice.
Your initial one-hour consultation with the physiotherapist includes an interview and physical exam of your injury and abilities. In most cases your physiotherapist will establish a treatment program for you during your first visit, and will begin treatment that day. The cost is $100.
Each following treatment is $65 and varies in length. Most patients are at the clinic for 30 - 45 minutes, some longer. Appointments are scheduled every 30 minutes.
If your physiotherapy treatment is covered by Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) for a work-related injury or through your auto insurance following a motor vehicle collision, physiotherapy rates are prearranged.
Since every body is unique, there is no way to accurately predict how many treatments you will need before you see the physiotherapist. When planning your physiotherapy program your physiotherapist will take the following into consideration: degree of injury, protocols set out by your surgeon (if applicable), your goals and funding. Remember, you are ultimately in charge of your own rehabilitation. If you have questions, concerns or special requests please let your physiotherapist know.
No, the physiotherapy services at Erie Shores Rehabilitation are not funded by OHIP.
Every plan is different. Consult your benefits booklet or call your plan provider directly for complete information. When inquiring about your coverage we also suggest asking about any co-payments or deductibles you may be responsible for, as well as your yearly maximum.

Yes. While we welcome you to make inquiries in person, by phone, or by e-mail at any time, an appointment is required to ensure your physiotherapist has enough time to provide you with excellent care.
You should wear clothing that is comfortable, easy to move in and allows access to the injured area. For example, if you have a shoulder injury, wear a tank top or loose fitting t-shirt. If you have a knee injury, wear shorts or loose fitting pants that can be pulled up to mid-thigh level.
